We just successfully finished a large trenchless water line replacement project for a storage facility in Los Angeles that was well over 300 ft long and 5 ft deep.

The issue was caused by several pipe breaks under the asphalt from a PVC 1 1/2 pipe. This is why, here at the Twin Plumbers, we NEVER install PVC pipe for a high pressure systems. Save your PVC pipe for your NON-pressurized pipes (i.e. sprinkler heads ,etc.), not the ones that go underground.

Anyhow, the great thing for us was that because it was PVC pipe and it was a straight shot, it makes it the perfect candidate for trenchless water line replacement. What we did was we used our acoustic leak detection equipment to identify and pin point the break, and then we excavated down to gain access to the broken pipe. Once we accessed the pipe, we cut out the broken section and ran our micro camera down the PVC pipe to map out what direction it was running and identify if there were any connections feeding or branching off that main. Once we determined all of these important factors, we devised and implemented an exact protocol for execution.
