Sewer Replacement Thousand Oaks

It is great to live in the technology days.  Things are becoming easier and easier in our lives, from finding information online, to shopping for clothes, all thanks to the internet.  Being that we have been replacing sewers for over 30 years we want to give you the insight on what the best methods are.

For a residential home, the methods available on the market are pipe bursting, (trenchless technologies) epoxy sewer lining, and trenching to remove old and make access for new.

Pipe Bursting

Pipe bursting is a trenchless technology.  It works by using a machine to burst the old pipe out of the way and pulls a new pipe in its path.  This method is generally used to replace the outside sewer from the home to the city tap.  High Density Polyethylene is used to replace the old piping.  The joints are melted together leaving most of your sewer to be seamless.

Epoxy Sewer Lining

Epoxy Sewer Lining is also a trenchless technology.  It works by utilizing a felt liner and epoxy to run a new pipe inside the old pipe.  This method is generally used for rehabilitating sewer lines underneath the slab of the home.  Epoxy when cured is very durable and can last 50 years plus.   It is great to use when you don’t want to rip up the flooring in your home.

Trenching Method

The trenching method is the most common used method of sewer line replacement.  It is usually done by utilizing a backhoe to trench the yard and dig up the old sewer line, leaving left to replace the old pipe with new pipe.  This method can leave quite a mess in your yard.  Especially if you have a backhoe operator that doesn’t have much experience.
