If you are just beginning the journey of eradicating your Rats from your home or property, then you’ve come to the right place. Trust us…..
We wish we had these resources when we started trapping these smart mammals 15 years ago.
You see….. we struggled with Rat trapping in the beginning, rats were stealing our bait, traps were flipping over with no rats caught, Rats dragging the traps and escaping, or we were in wonderment as to WHY the rats were not going after the bait, and rats continue to migrate and breed within the property.
We got so frustrated after losing hundreds of rats that we placed monitoring cameras and studied rats’ behavior, watching how the traditional Wooden Traps were no longer effective as a stand-alone solution.
We began to make-shift different concepts onto the traps, and each time perfecting, until we finally figured out the ultimate solution.
We now have increased our catch rate tremendously and have solved hundreds of Rat problems inside people’s properties.
The wooden Snap Rat trap is by far still the ultimate in trapping, BUT has many weaknesses as a stand-alone trap.
Most people that contact us, have tried to trap Rats or mice out of their properties and have been UN-successful.
WHY……….
Here are some of the most frequent questions we get from people when attempting to Trap Rats:
- Why aren’t the Rats taking the bait?
- Traps are set & the rats took the bait, why?
- What’s the Best Bait to use when trapping Rats?
- Why do my Traps keep getting activated and not catching the Rats?
- Why do my Rats Traps keep flipping over?
- Rats dragged the Rat Trap away, how do we prevent this?
- Can I just place a bunch of sticky Traps everywhere?
- Where do I place the Traps to catch rats?
If you’re baiting & setting Rat Traps and the Rats have no interest, there are a few reasons why.
The number 1 reason is that you have not found or sealed their entry & exit points.
As Rats migrate in & out of your property, they have outside food sources, so they have no interest in any other food sources.
When we arrive at a rodent job, we never just begin placing Traps, we go into detection mode and find their entry points.
Once we have successfully completed this critical step, then it’s time to begin trapping.
The pest control industry is way behind the times on this subject, and it’s costing property owners thousands of dollars in costs as pest control Technicians do not conduct proper exclusion work. This must be done always, no matter what trapping methods you choose.
*Exclusion work definition: sealing holes with wire mesh & spray foam
Again, we cannot stress this enough…..
When trapping Rats, It’s SUPER critical to locate & seal the holes with proper materials. ( DO NOT just use spray foam, they’ll chew right through it ) use a 19 gauge wire mesh along with spray foam.
Most beginners will also ask “ Twins, why do I want to seal up my house and trap them inside?”
This is the only way to trap rats, you seal off the entry points, you deplete their food source, and you’ll see how well you start trapping Rats, by following this process, you already have the upper hand on your local pest control companies.
Once you confirmed and sealed the entry points to your property, it’s time for the magic of rat-trapping
WHAT DO PROFESSIONALS USE TO TRAP RATS?
To be honest, when you have successfully sealed the entry points, baiting really doesn’t matter, but our number one go-to rat bait is the good o chunky peanut butter.
