Mold Symptoms

Many people hear the word mold and panic. They instantly think of black mold, which is capable of making people really sick. That is true, but there are many other signs and symptoms of mold that you need to know about in order to protect you and your family.

Mold is a fungus, just like mushrooms and yeast, that can be found everywhere. Though most people assume that mold is only in damp and musty basements, the truth is that it can be found anywhere. In fact, mold produces seeds, called spores, which are airborne and we inhale them all day long – both inside and outside.

You may also see the actual mold in your home. You may notice irregular spots, though you may see them more in damp basements, crawlspaces, and bathrooms. Mold comes in many colors including black, blue, brown, gray, green, orange, pink, white and yellow.

Luckily for most people, you can remove mold just by using your regular household cleaning products. Most people use bleach and wipe the affected areas. However, you may not notice it until it is too late and you have damage to areas in your home.

When cleaning mold, you have to use caution. You don’t want to inhale the spores as you clean, especially if you have a weakened immune system. For this reason, it is recommended that you hire a professional. They will ensure that you get rid of all of the mold safely and repair any damage that it has caused.

Unfortunately, all homes are going to have mold at some time. The best thing that you can do is clean your bathroom, basements, and other damp areas regularly to keep it at a minimum.
