The pest control industry overall has no experience in detecting & eradicating the sewer rats inside your property.
The Twins here are the world’s best sewer Rat Experts, they have solved well over 2500 sewer Rat jobs, trapped and monitored well over 5,000 rats, and still counting.
The 32 years of plumbing experience, gives them a competitive advantage in the pest control & extermination industry.
If you have activity inside a wall or ceiling, more than likely you have a sewer Rat issue. There is a specific process in detection & removal as well as a preventative measure that will stop the Rats from ever returning, using the Twins Trench-less Sewer Blocker devices.
There are others in the industry who are watching our YouTube channel like Truly Nolan who are “attempting” to get into detection, but unfortunately, their clients are contacting us with utter frustration after their service & spending a few thousand dollars with no definitive results. If one or a company is entering this market, it’s super critical to understand the process of elimination, particularly dealing with the sewer rat.
How Do I Know If I Have Sewer Rats In My Home?
Signs of sewer rats in your home can be quite obvious by hearing scratching behind walls, particularly bathroom Toilets, laundry & kitchen.
Attic or ceiling spaces are also an indicator of sewer rats. Many people who contact us when they hear noises in their attic, get confused assuming it’s the roof rat, they spend thousands of dollars with other companies sealing everything on the exterior, removing the insulation inside the entire attic, then weeks later the Rats are back. We see this scenario so often, it’s so frustrating to see.
Another sign of sewer Rats inside your home is intermittent noises, you may hear things for a few weeks then nothing for several months, and then the noises return, this is the migration path of the sewer rats, they choose structures that have other entry points as they migrate throughout your city sewers.
In fact, 4 out of 10 Rat jobs we solve in Los Angeles are due to rats entering from the Sewer system.

Where Do Sewer Rats Get Their Food?
Directly from the sewer, everything we put down our kitchen sinks, that’s how the sewer rats survive property owners even pest control companies will attempt to place baited traps or poisons with No success. The reason is the Rats have plenty of food sources elsewhere in addition the entry points have not been found. As a professional Rat exterminator, you will never see us place traps prematurely until we have identified the entry & exit points. We see this so often with pest controllers, they show up and just place traps and poisons, this is NOT rat Extermination. Sewer rats will not take the bait off of a trap, there is no need, they have plenty of food sources elsewhere, yes, you may get lucky & catch one or two, but they have bountiful food inside the sewers where they come & exiting your structure.
What's The Difference Between A Rat & Sewer Rat?
The Norway rat is also known as the sewer rat, brown rat, or wharf rat. They are all the same thing—this burrowing, ground-nesting rat can be found around the world. But the one big difference is the sewer Rat can survive inside the sewer system eating fecal matter to survive.
We also noticed a difference with rats eating other rats, the sewer rat cannibalizes each other versus the roof rat during survival. When we witness this occurring, as a rat exterminator, we’ve done our job by finding & sealing their entry points so it brings utter satisfaction.
How Do You Get Rid Of Sewer Rats For Good?
We have invented and patented the Twins Trench-less Rodent Blocker. This device is affordable, no plumbers are required, no digging is required, and no destroying your concrete driveway or landscaping.
If you have a 3” or 4 “ ABS comb fitting underground, then you are a perfect candidate for stopping sewer rats from entering your property ever again. The other option you have is to locate the breach within the structure, however, if it’s aggressive, you will need a sewer rodent blocker device.
How Does The Sewer Rodent Blocker Work?
It simply drops down your sewer fitting, it has a one-way flap, allowing the water & debris to flow out, once water flow stops within your sewer, the flap closes blocking the sewer rat from coming in.
The sewer rat migrates during the late nights and early mornings when your sleeping & NOT using your plumbing fixtures, this is why having the device is critical.
What's The Most Effective Way To Trap A Sewer Rat?
These Rats have made us think & get creative when it comes to outsmarting them. We have used rodent monitoring cameras for years providing us the intel needed to trap these rats, whether large or small, fast & quickly.
We invented the Twin Traps, which have a Hoodie, Bait Tugger & platform.
This trio is the most effective rat trap we feel in the world.
Why?
We no longer witness Rats stealing the bait, traps flipping over, or the rats dragging the traps still alive then dying causing a horrific odor & blowflies.
The platform provides easy handling when it comes to disposing of sewer rats as shown in the video.
How Do You Get Sewer Rats Out Of My Walls?
Sewer Rats love nesting & giving birth inside your walls & ceilings. If you hear noises like scratching, 99% chance you have a sewer rat invasion. You must be cautious, as they will chew electric wiring, plastic pipes water & drain, they can chew right through your walls and gain access, particularly if you have pets, they love dog & cat food.
FACT : Sewer rats can smell food 10 miles away.
Once they enter your home, they literally will take over, sleeping in your sofas, under cabinets, behind appliances.
How To Stop Rats Coming Up Toilets?
Rats coming up toilets is a sign that you have an aggressive sewer Rat infestation. They have migrated directly from your city sewer municipality.
This is a significant sign that you have a breach somewhere in your drain system.
Yes, they make toilet flaps like this, https://www.multiflap.com/ but here’s the problem, this device is only a single fixture rodent-stopping device.
Once you prevent them from coming into the toilets, they will migrate to otter areas of the waste & vent system, chewing through pipes like in this video.
The only device to stop Sewer Rats permanently from entering your entire sewer system is the Twins Trench- less Rodent blocker. Here it is in action:

How Do You Detect & Determine How The Rats Are Entering From The Drain System?
The investigation & inspection are critical in determining HOW they’re getting in.
Depending on the activity you’re hearing or seeing.
It is going to require a deep dive into your attic, basement, and crawl spaces.
You will need sewer cameras & location devices, and it is a must that the proper Nontoxic smoke equipment be used as part of the investigation.
Knowing where to inject the smoke is also important, we always inject the smoke to the nearest vent stack closest to the areas where Rats are being heard.
Once you have injected the smoke to entire sewer system within your structure, then you must go on the hunt looking for the Smoke to expel out of the ceiling, walls, cabinets, attic, crawl spaces etc.
Once you see the smoke, then you need to strategically make decisions where to begin making an informed decision on where to open up to start gaining access to the breaches. This can be tricky, you must know where to open preventing unnecessary destruction to the interior portions of your property.
Which Cities In Southern California With The Most Sewer Rats You’ve Solved?
1- Long Beach Ca
2- Palm Springs Ca
3 Palm Desert Ca
4- Pasadena Ca
5 – Burbank Ca
Palm Springs & Palm desert are impacted the most when it comes to Sewer Rats, as these homes are used half the year. When sewer lines are not being used, these are the pipes the rats migrate into.
Rat infestation can occur rapidly in a Palm Springs or Palm desert home very quickly. We highly recommend installing a Twins Rodent blocking device to prevent this from happening.
Here’s a video where a palm desert home owner kept smelling a very bad odor, he assumed it was a sewer odor, when we arrived we detected that it was an aggressive sewer rat problem.
Sewer rats are everywhere, we believe every home should have a Rodent Blocking device.
How Long Does It Take To Remove Sewer Rats From A Home?
This depends on the infestation & where the openings are.
Typically it takes us for a very bad infestation of up to 8 days, a very light infestation of 3 days. If you engage with another pest control company and they take longer than 10 days, then you’ve unfortunately hired the wrong company.
If you place rodent camera devices in strategic hot spots, you’ll see the behavior of the rat, within hours the sewer will begin to feel panicked after you’ve found and sealed the entry & exit points. Once the panic has exhausted the rats, they begin to hit the traps very quickly.
If they don’t, then You have missed their opening they their still coming & going.
RAT FACT: Dispose quickly once you trap, sewer rats will cannibalize one & other for survival.
What Is The Most Effective Rat Traps That Professionals Use?
