Technical Skills Matched With Good Character a Perfect Match for a Trenchless Company

We have also learned from our mistakes over the last decade, as well as the risks we have taken to go beyond to help our customers in attempting to save their property driveways, landscaping, and flooring. With that, we want to help educate you with all of the knowledge we have acquired over the years.
We want to provide a few guidelines for you in today’s post that will greatly assist you in making a decision on how to choose a company, what should be on the written contract, what should be included on the warranty, and what type of materials that should be used. So, let’s get started.
Choosing the Right Trenchless Company
This is a very important decision to make. Just because it’s “trenchless” doesn’t mean that there is no destruction to your property. There is going to be some form of excavation either inside or outside. You want to choose a company that is going to protect your property from any damage. We have seen even a light procedure cause damage to driveways, flooring and landscaping simply by not taking the extra measures to cover the surfaces being worked around.
At the Twin Plumbers, our trenchless crew is trained and required to carry thick-grade cardboard and our 8-foot by 8-foot rubber carpets that completely cover the surrounding work areas.
Here are some other things you should also look for when choosing a Los Angeles trenchless company:
- The company should be able to provide at least 10 customers for you who you can call on for feedback.
- You should request a copy of their liability and worker’s comp insurances and they should carry a minimum of $1 million in coverage. If it’s a commercial property, then $2 million.
- Ask what type of products they use and verify that it’s a Los Angeles building, safety-tested, and approved.
- Make sure they have integrity and good character. This will go a long way during the project and if something happens years down the line.
- Make sure they have an office location and have been performing trenchless duties for a minimum of 7 years.
Trenchless Sewer Contracts
- Make sure the trenchless company creates a very detailed work order. This includes writing the location of the sewer line they are working on, listing footage, and the types of materials they are going to be installing.
- Make sure that a local city inspector is going to fully inspect the line. If it’s a 6-inch liner, then the inspector must be on site before the contractor performs the work. This should always be inclusive in the agreement, not exclusive.
- Make sure the contract has payment schedules or progress payments. You do not want to pay in full prior to the job. If a sewer company asks for the entire payment upfront, say no and move on to another company.
- The contract should also have start dates and completion dates. They should also notify you of the time when water shut down.
- Warranty should be listed on the contract. Epoxy lining and pipe burst both have a 50-year guarantee.
- They should have a video recording as a part of the agreement, showing work before and after, with clear and concise audio footage. This should be kept in your files.
