First Step to Unclogging a Toilet: The Right Toilet Brush
It is our passion to help you by giving you helpful do-it-yourself plumbing tips! Here, we give you two clever ways to unclog your own toilet in case you do not have a plunger or if your plunger doesn’t work.
The Use of a Toilet Brush
- The first thing you want to make sure of is that you have the right toilet brush, or you will have dirty water going everywhere.
- Next, you want to go ahead and make sure that the toilet bowl is somewhat filled up with water. The water acts as a head pressure, forcing the clog through the P-train, then down the drain.
- Now, you are ready for action! Go ahead and insert half of the brush inside of the drain of the toilet. Start pumping the brush back and forth in little fast strokes. Remember to keep the brush inside of the drain of the toilet at all times.
- Once you see water go down the toilet, go ahead and flush.
The Use of the Pong-Tu
Although the Twin Plumbers have never used this clever idea, it is one of our favorites! This uses a very sticky plastic that adheres to the rim of a toilet bowl. Give your toilet a quick flush to fill up and pressurize the sealed-off toilet bowl. This will allow you to push the clog through. The cool thing is that you won’t have any mess using this method!
