Choose the Responsible Plumbers at Schuelke Twin Plumbing
The Twin Plumbers have been a licensed plumbing contractor for over 30 years. Performing plumbing work in the Los Angeles area requires a license in order to be fully compliant with all the city ordinances and the contractors state license board who governs ALL contractors that require a license.
Being a licensed plumbing contractor in Los Angeles requires being very responsible by following all the rules and regulations. When searching for a plumber it’s always a good idea to make sure he or she is licensed, bonded & insured. Without a license, a person or entity cannot obtain any of the coverages to protect him and most of all you in the event something goes wrong. Most importantly, its the law, in fact anyone performing any construction work that requires a license and are caught will likely have to appear in front of a judge in superior court to answer misdemeanor charges and can face up to six months in jail and/ or $5,000.00 in fines.
Felony charges can also be filed for anyone who illegally uses another persons contractor license or who tries to mislead consumers into believing that he or she is fully licensed to do contracting work. If unlicensed contractor performs work for you, you are not obligated to pay, and cannot be sued for for non – payment.
There are some good resources on the website of the contractors state license board. www.cslb.ca.gov, if you at anytime have doubts about a contractor, you can go and search by name or by license number, to verify they are fully licensed, bonded & insured.
Here are some other negatives for NOT using a license contractor:
- Property owners can be liable for injuries sustained by workers on the property.
- Work performed especially in hidden areas can be sub -standard work and not to city code compliance.
- No warranty, no recourse of any actions if the work causes huge damages to you or your property.
- Labor force can place liens on your property if the un -licensed person doesn’t pay them for work they performed on your property.
- Un licensed persons typically requests large deposits and never finish the project.
- The project will not be city inspected, this can affect the sale of your property or you maybe left with heavy fines if not corrected.
Saving a few dollars from using a person who is not licensed can cost you more in the long run. So, the Twin Plumbers hope this blog helps you in making the right decision on using a licensed contractor for not only your plumbing projects, but any projects that is required to obtain a permit for city approval. As always, we thank you for reading our blog.
