Nothing is worse than getting home feeling excited to take a nice hot shower after a long day at work…only to find that the water pressure in your home’s plumbing is weak, and the shower-head basically just drips. On the other hand, it can also be frustrating to have a shower that blasts too hard and hurts your skin!
The water pressure in your home is determined by a number of variables. First of all, pressure is impacted by where you are in relation to the water source: what is the difference in elevation between your home and the public water supply? Being closer to sea level than the city water tank your home connects to causes the water pressure to be higher. Water pressure levels can also be impacted by periods of high demand. An average home has a water pressure level between 50 and 100 PSI (pounds per square inch) — but really, you should try to keep the pressure at around 80.
